WAR MEMORIAL DESIGN POSSIBLITIES AND CONSTRAINTS
Information obtained from the head of the history department at ANZAC HOUSE
For Further information we are welcomed to call 9655 5555
- Used only on VP day (Victory in the Pacific) on the nearest Sunday to the 15th of august
- Relocation of the memorial is acceptable especially if the new site is more conducive for a gathering, and for it’s viewing
- It must be done of course in consulation with the city of Melbourne and the local RSL (Melbourne)
- The relocation of the memorial would only be a problem if the local RSL protests
- Memorials these days however are constantly relocated to make way for roads and development
- Redesign/Recreation of the memorial is also allowable so long as it is done tastefully
- Most memorials around Australia were erected after WWI and very few after WWII therefore many don’t recognise the more recent armed services, some with only extra plates added later
- Therefore it would be quite favourable to create a new memorial that enhances the current one and includes all the wars and peace keeping missions
